3 R( `7 A" r" N t! R9 TThe New Zealand Embassy in Beijing is looking for an enthusiastic person to join our team as policy adviser/interpreter in the trade & economic team. The focus of this position is on supporting New Zealand’s trade and economic relationship with China. * }# E% U+ t$ F7 ?1 p

Key tasks:
$ I: V8 b! \6 a • Undertake research and analysis.
% u4 e& q- p; d • Provide policy advice and reporting on trade/economic developments in China.
: I( O4 W9 L; S& y • Build up a network of contacts in relevant Chinese agencies and institutions.; o$ O$ c. f3 A" V& L
• Assist with arranging visit programmes and meetings for New Zealand ministers and officials.
8 I& g$ {3 F/ B. L, b) k& Q$ \! ^ • Provide accurate interpretation (Chinese/English and English/Chinese) at official meetings.! [. J2 ^( Y0 u; Q& m) U# j+ E# m

4 f9 t( }$ U" X& P+ E7 R9 oThe Embassy is looking for the following skills and capabilities:$ N' J9 L4 v M1 Z
• High degree of oral and written proficiency in both Mandarin Chinese and English.
% Z" q1 u2 Y* B, N1 v& ]/ ] • Translation and interpretation skills.
Q5 S/ q. D6 u* T* N4 \ • Relevant tertiary qualification$ z/ h* ]7 e* ^( M" E3 o
• Research and analytical skills.
% s1 x: n! f% ~7 O0 A0 z. ^) O • Well organised, able to manage a large workload.
) Y* B& g5 Y9 C • Strong initiative, a problem solving mentality, and ability to work independently on tasks.
" f9 n* @; }; X& ]4 U. E • Flexibility and adaptability.
8 W/ U3 q. I6 c5 _2 U; j2 ~ • Strong interpersonal skills, able to work effectively with other team members.
: J3 z5 ~ ?, g! a • Familiarity with the working environment in China, including government systems.* a& `8 X: |; H: W' a0 G: i
• Developed computer skills (particularly MS Office, internet research capability).- X, v1 s7 Q. T8 g6 T2 L. ^) i: V2 @
• Knowledge or experience of New Zealand an advantage.8 ~ f: ]7 e; a. ~
