) t* p" \' C J& ]The New Zealand Embassy in Beijing is looking for an enthusiastic person to join our team as policy adviser/interpreter in the trade & economic team. The focus of this position is on supporting New Zealand’s trade and economic relationship with China. / \7 `6 g- T% P7 W& i7 ?

Key tasks:% l: ~( i2 O) e' A* ` O3 l6 ~
• Undertake research and analysis.
# d% m- f" R( J/ O6 h) d2 R • Provide policy advice and reporting on trade/economic developments in China.
2 z! ^; O, \ I • Build up a network of contacts in relevant Chinese agencies and institutions. ?! X {' T( f) k7 _5 t7 y
• Assist with arranging visit programmes and meetings for New Zealand ministers and officials.
V+ A# Z1 Y) L$ Y g2 r% D • Provide accurate interpretation (Chinese/English and English/Chinese) at official meetings.

The Embassy is looking for the following skills and capabilities:
" b" I' W P6 M; y • High degree of oral and written proficiency in both Mandarin Chinese and English.# i: s" k5 Z' ^7 }' K) E8 y1 l
• Translation and interpretation skills.3 b4 s" ^7 k M' n' ?; v2 B& X- R
• Relevant tertiary qualification. ] c9 N3 D6 j" R6 y! R6 a9 a
• Research and analytical skills.
3 p3 A' d. B! P% ^9 z2 X- c • Well organised, able to manage a large workload. 9 H7 }: R' I9 g/ z
• Strong initiative, a problem solving mentality, and ability to work independently on tasks.

• Strong interpersonal skills, able to work effectively with other team members.
4 \% T! O# W: n( o B1 P • Familiarity with the working environment in China, including government systems.
/ q5 t6 [2 y- k& T • Developed computer skills (particularly MS Office, internet research capability)., p: C# z+ O* d1 K N
• Knowledge or experience of New Zealand an advantage.* Z2 y) Q0 p; E4 q3 f0 F. _
