: z# C( o- q" G0 Z* t/ kThe New Zealand Embassy in Beijing is looking for an enthusiastic person to join our team as policy adviser/interpreter in the trade & economic team. The focus of this position is on supporting New Zealand’s trade and economic relationship with China. $ b" @% c. S/ i6 E; y

Key tasks:
( S& m0 u' }3 |) G • Undertake research and analysis.
* |5 s7 T! V9 W* n7 v5 S' u • Provide policy advice and reporting on trade/economic developments in China.4 M3 z% u H) A: s
• Build up a network of contacts in relevant Chinese agencies and institutions.
1 V: F1 G! m9 X2 ], R4 p' U • Assist with arranging visit programmes and meetings for New Zealand ministers and officials.# g! S) [1 w6 R1 z) b
• Provide accurate interpretation (Chinese/English and English/Chinese) at official meetings.

The Embassy is looking for the following skills and capabilities:2 D6 t& a8 b- h' {% k
• High degree of oral and written proficiency in both Mandarin Chinese and English.* a7 G! l6 r Z& |
• Translation and interpretation skills.% s- U$ I; J( t9 @( n# H
• Relevant tertiary qualification
% Q9 h6 \2 N- n% F • Research and analytical skills." [! _) W) ]* I8 A. F
• Well organised, able to manage a large workload. [# o/ ^: ?' X+ O* }
• Strong initiative, a problem solving mentality, and ability to work independently on tasks.
2 @' Q( L( K6 U: y • Flexibility and adaptability.
" ?9 a( B9 U8 X! F$ [$ n$ Q7 p( n • Strong interpersonal skills, able to work effectively with other team members.0 s2 Q+ D( l) N6 q, L! R
• Familiarity with the working environment in China, including government systems.
( `' l0 ]7 x( E( O8 v9 I • Developed computer skills (particularly MS Office, internet research capability).
& q' _' N" Z; K( b+ {6 S • Knowledge or experience of New Zealand an advantage.
