The New Zealand Embassy in Beijing is looking for an enthusiastic person to join our team as policy adviser/interpreter in the trade & economic team. The focus of this position is on supporting New Zealand’s trade and economic relationship with China.

0 [4 F3 P( u2 q z) N • Undertake research and analysis.! m) p' k- k/ c! ]$ _
• Provide policy advice and reporting on trade/economic developments in China.% U$ N6 N, ?9 a, ~: L- E
• Build up a network of contacts in relevant Chinese agencies and institutions.
" E' q3 Z M/ U5 X @4 D7 u • Assist with arranging visit programmes and meetings for New Zealand ministers and officials. a3 x, j7 \) Y& W% P1 j
• Provide accurate interpretation (Chinese/English and English/Chinese) at official meetings.

• High degree of oral and written proficiency in both Mandarin Chinese and English.6 c" B2 F" `- ]- D* j7 J
• Translation and interpretation skills.

• Research and analytical skills.9 `( ?% p6 p/ j' `& x+ r) c
• Well organised, able to manage a large workload.
6 W7 ?" v2 x% z8 h$ I! j' b • Strong initiative, a problem solving mentality, and ability to work independently on tasks.
- i: K3 K& Z2 u- a • Flexibility and adaptability.
7 l2 o, C8 f7 y4 ~6 C+ y • Strong interpersonal skills, able to work effectively with other team members.
2 o0 l% R8 N6 s- q$ |( b E! s • Familiarity with the working environment in China, including government systems.6 S9 t b& {' q6 C7 H$ R" O; ?, b
• Developed computer skills (particularly MS Office, internet research capability).
