8 v0 D# b! |4 X1 H2 w6 q/ W0 oThe New Zealand Embassy in Beijing is looking for an enthusiastic person to join our team as policy adviser/interpreter in the trade & economic team. The focus of this position is on supporting New Zealand’s trade and economic relationship with China.

6 p4 m" W: R) g% p7 h( OKey tasks:
( S2 s& y2 S, F8 I# w • Undertake research and analysis.
* u7 B& i' R3 c% D4 T • Provide policy advice and reporting on trade/economic developments in China.' B) V# Y5 D: m7 T
• Build up a network of contacts in relevant Chinese agencies and institutions.
+ T8 b! |7 x+ T! c/ W • Assist with arranging visit programmes and meetings for New Zealand ministers and officials.
# ^4 x" e" h8 Y • Provide accurate interpretation (Chinese/English and English/Chinese) at official meetings.

• High degree of oral and written proficiency in both Mandarin Chinese and English.6 H* w( e# p2 q
• Translation and interpretation skills.' J9 h: _8 F6 F. ?1 s7 E
• Relevant tertiary qualification8 ?& h6 S" ^7 S& h
• Research and analytical skills.- T- g0 I% H, y/ w% H
• Well organised, able to manage a large workload.
# P! W& s: I. G • Strong initiative, a problem solving mentality, and ability to work independently on tasks. - [& |$ d2 G8 T; H
• Flexibility and adaptability.# a! W* n' S) l$ B7 {4 W/ s
• Strong interpersonal skills, able to work effectively with other team members.
- v- d1 s6 W3 W( t. m9 `% k- l% X • Familiarity with the working environment in China, including government systems.; |8 o1 j" v: ~* v ?
• Developed computer skills (particularly MS Office, internet research capability).: r! h1 o* V- M9 w0 u6 X0 }' x2 Y3 z
• Knowledge or experience of New Zealand an advantage.) K$ G$ \8 x: N0 f) _
