+ B: Q0 J c! bThe New Zealand Embassy in Beijing is looking for an enthusiastic person to join our team as policy adviser/interpreter in the trade & economic team. The focus of this position is on supporting New Zealand’s trade and economic relationship with China.

Key tasks:
1 s) q2 J' h5 c' {$ H! q5 G3 o# J2 n • Undertake research and analysis.
# ^4 i g* f' ]' a A3 w" J0 ? • Provide policy advice and reporting on trade/economic developments in China.
* @& m6 _0 Q& l5 j3 \ y+ K3 E' V • Build up a network of contacts in relevant Chinese agencies and institutions.+ ~/ p# ~# X+ J# Z
• Assist with arranging visit programmes and meetings for New Zealand ministers and officials.
( H3 c) W/ o& I3 s) d9 Q • Provide accurate interpretation (Chinese/English and English/Chinese) at official meetings.

- P9 E. @: H$ m1 e, wThe Embassy is looking for the following skills and capabilities: @! d$ c& E4 Y& y3 t: O7 F0 k
• High degree of oral and written proficiency in both Mandarin Chinese and English.+ c% x$ T* r" _$ p9 n* x
• Translation and interpretation skills.9 F3 H. y+ d' i; j
• Relevant tertiary qualification- O0 c6 D5 d, n
• Research and analytical skills.

) p9 ~) \) r" e( V1 R • Strong initiative, a problem solving mentality, and ability to work independently on tasks.

2 w, c6 @: d2 y3 e9 C • Strong interpersonal skills, able to work effectively with other team members.
) r! a0 r# J: x) j2 M7 O • Familiarity with the working environment in China, including government systems. K6 Y$ I- V0 K( i: F5 v
• Developed computer skills (particularly MS Office, internet research capability). ~/ Y7 }( U, p& ^" v; L/ H$ t
• Knowledge or experience of New Zealand an advantage.& s7 ~4 Q3 S, d4 J% G3 v7 Q4 @
