Hello everyone!
很高兴与大家相聚云端，共同庆祝中华人民共和国成立73周年。73年来，中国人民在中国共产党带领下，栉风沐雨、踔厉奋发、勇毅前行、团结奋斗，创造了世所罕见的经济快速发展奇迹和社会长期稳定奇迹。特别是，过去10年来，中国特色社会主义进入新时代，中国的发展取得历史性成就、发生历史性变革。
It is a great pleasure to gather with you online to celebrate the 73rd anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. Over the past 73 years, under the leadership of the Communist Party of China (CPC), the Chinese people have overcome all difficulties and strived together with unity and fortitude, delivering rapid economic development and long-term social stability, miracles rarely seen in the world. In particular, in the past 10 years, socialism with Chinese characteristics has entered a new era, and China's development has made historic achievements and undergone historic changes.
中国共产党十八大以来，我们统筹推进“五位一体”总体布局、协调推进“四个全面”战略布局，持续推进国家治理体系和治理能力现代化。中国共产党十九大对全面建成社会主义现代化强国作出了两步走的战略部署：从2020年到2035年基本实现社会主义现代化；从2035年到本世纪中叶把中国建成富强民主文明和谐美丽的社会主义现代化强国。即将召开的中国共产党第二十次全国代表大会，将制定未来5年乃至更长时期的行动纲领和大政方针。
Since the 18th National Congress of the CPC, we have advanced the five-dimensional integrated plan in a balanced manner and the four-pronged strategic plan in a coordinated manner, and continued to modernize the country's governance system and governance capabilities. The 19th CPC National Congress made a two-step strategic plan for fully building a great modern socialist country: from 2020 to 2035, basically realizing socialist modernization; and from 2035 to the middle of this century, developing China into a great modern socialist country that is prosperous, strong, democratic, culturally advanced, harmonious, and beautiful. The upcoming 20th National Congress of the CPC will formulate a guideline of action and major policies for the next five years or even longer.
人民对美好生活的向往，就是我们奋斗的目标。中国共产党的理论创新和实践创新，既造福亿万中国人民，也致力于解答人类进步事业的世界之问、时代之问。
To meet the people's desire for a better life is our goal. The theoretical and practical innovations of the CPC not only benefit hundreds of millions of Chinese, but also provide answers to the questions of the world and the times in the cause of human progress.
——坚持以人民为中心的发展思想。10年来，中国年均减贫1237万人，相当于一个中等国家的人口；中国人均可支配收入年均实际增长6.6%，形成超4亿人全球规模最大、最具成长性的中等收入群体。中国基本养老保险、基本医疗保险覆盖人数分别达10.3亿人、13.6亿人。中国是世界主要大国中新冠肺炎发病率最低、死亡人数最少的国家。14亿多中国人民正在用辛勤的创造和劳动迈向共同富裕。
—We have followed the people-centered development philosophy. In the past 10 years, we have on average lifted 12.37 million people out of poverty every year, equivalent to the population of a medium-sized country; China's per capita disposable income has made an actual annual growth of 6.6%, making possible the world's largest and most promising middle-income group with over 400 million people. China's basic old-age insurance and basic medical insurance cover 1.03 billion and 1.36 billion people respectively. China also has the lowest COVID-19 incidence rate and death toll among the world's major countries. The over 1.4 billion Chinese people are striving for common prosperity with their hard work and ingenuity.
——坚持人民当家作主。10年来，我们不断完善中国特色社会主义民主制度，真正践行全过程人民民主。根据哈佛大学肯尼迪学院连续10年在中国开展的民调，中国民众对共产党执政的满意度每年都保持在90%以上。我们从不固步自封，从不输出自己的政治制度，而是主张己所不欲勿施于人，反对民主对抗威权的叙事，倡导和平、发展、公平、正义、民主、自由的全人类共同价值。
—We have ensured that the people are the master of the country. Over the past 10 years, we have kept improving the system of socialist democracy with Chinese characteristics and truly practiced the whole-process people's democracy. According to a poll conducted by Harvard Kennedy School in China for 10 consecutive years, the Chinese people's satisfaction with the CPC as the governing party has remained above 90% every year. We never cease to make progress, and never export our own political system. Instead, we believe that one should not do unto others what he does not want himself. We object to the narrative of democracy versus authoritarianism, and advocate the common values of peace, development, fairness, justice, democracy, and freedom for all mankind.
——坚持人与自然和谐共生。10年来，中国大力推动绿色低碳循环发展。为换回蓝天常在，全国累计化解煤炭过剩产能10亿吨；为守护碧水长流，各地新增污水日处理能力4088万吨；为应对气候变化，中国宣布力争于2030年前实现碳达峰、2060年前实现碳中和目标，能耗强度累计降低26.2%，相当于少排放二氧化碳约29.4亿吨。
—We have strived for harmonious coexistence of man and nature. Over the past 10 years, we have vigorously promoted green, low-carbon and circular development. To ensure the return of blue sky, we have altogether phased out one billion tons of excess coal capacity; to protect the clear rivers, we have increased the daily sewage treatment capacity by 40.88 million tons; to address climate change, we have announced that we will strive to achieve carbon peaking before 2030 and carbon neutrality before 2060, and cumulatively lower energy intensity by 26.2%, equivalent to a reduction of about 2.94 billion tons of carbon dioxide emissions.
——坚持推动构建人类命运共同体。10年来，中国积极推动建设新型国际关系，提出全球发展倡议和全球安全倡议，通过高质量共建“一带一路”共享发展机遇，对世界经济增长的年均贡献率超过30%，向120多个国家和国际组织提供了超过22亿剂新冠疫苗，为国际体系和国际治理的变革发展贡献更多中国智慧、中国方案、中国力量。
—We have continuously promoted the building of a community with a shared future for mankind. Over the past 10 years, we have actively worked for a new type of international relations, put forward the Global Development Initiative and Global Security Initiative, and shared development opportunities by high-quality "Belt and Road Initiative" cooperation. We have contributed an average of over 30% to global growth every year, provided more than 2.2 billion doses of COVID-19 vaccines for more than 120 countries and international organizations, and contributed greater Chinese wisdom, Chinese solutions, and Chinese strength to the reform and development of the international system and international governance.

Friends,
中美都是伟大的国家，中美关系是世界上最重要的双边关系。习近平主席指出，中美能否处理好彼此关系，攸关世界前途命运，是两国必须共同回答好的世纪之问。
Both China and the US are great countries, and the China-US relationship is the most important bilateral relationship in the world. President Xi Jinping pointed out, whether China and the US can handle their relationship well bears on the future of the world. It is a question of the century to which the two countries must provide a good answer.
当前中美关系面临严峻挑战。台湾问题事关中国主权与领土完整，是中方核心利益所在，是中美关系中最重要最敏感的问题。美方应恪守一个中国原则和中美三个联合公报规定，尊重14亿多中国人民的共同意愿，明明白白反对和制止“台独”，以实际行动支持两岸关系和平发展和中国和平统一进程，切实维护中美关系大局和台海和平稳定。
Currently, China-US relations are facing severe challenges. The Taiwan question bears on China's sovereignty and territorial integrity, and concerns China's core interests. It is the most important and sensitive issue in China-US relations. The US side must abide by the one-China principle and the provisions of the three Sino-US joint communiques, respect the common will of the more than 1.4 billion Chinese people, unequivocally oppose and stop "Taiwan independence", support the peaceful development of cross-Strait relations and China's peaceful reunification with real actions, and earnestly uphold the overall China-US relations and peace and stability of the Taiwan Strait.
当今世界动荡和变革两种趋势持续演进，发展和安全两大赤字不断凸显，中美拥有巨大共同利益和共同责任，合作是唯一正确选择。把中国视作威胁和挑战，以战略竞争定义中美关系是严重的战略错误，只会把中美推向对抗冲突，把世界推向分裂动荡，是一场没有赢家的大国政治悲剧。
In the world today, the trends of turbulence and transformation are evolving, and deficits in development and security are looming large. China and the United States have huge common interests and common responsibilities, and cooperation is the only correct choice. Regarding China as a threat and challenge, and defining China-US relations as strategic competition are serious strategic mistakes, and will only push China and the United States into confrontation and conflict and the world into division and turmoil. It will be a political tragedy between major countries that no one is the winner.
习近平主席提出的相互尊重、和平共处、合作共赢三原则是中美正确相处之道。希望美方与中方相向而行，加强对话、减少误解、管控分歧、拓展合作，推动中美关系早日重回健康稳定发展轨道，这符合两国人民根本利益，也是国际社会的普遍期盼。
The three principles of mutual respect, peaceful coexistence and win-win cooperation put forward by President Xi Jinping are the correct way for China and the United States to get along. It is hoped that the US will work with China, strengthen dialogue, reduce misunderstandings, manage differences, expand cooperation, and bring China-US relations back to the track of healthy and stable development at an early date. This serves the fundamental interests of the two peoples and also meets the general expectation of the international community.
