# H0 V3 j+ o, N- yThe New Zealand Embassy in Beijing is looking for an enthusiastic person to join our team as policy adviser/interpreter in the trade & economic team. The focus of this position is on supporting New Zealand’s trade and economic relationship with China. 0 L Z8 r1 Q+ Z* y$ J

Key tasks:* c- c) ^: z( k2 K' t, e' P% X% b
• Undertake research and analysis.
( X; m" N- T8 d: V5 z, g5 U2 t • Provide policy advice and reporting on trade/economic developments in China.% _3 \( y1 Y- p9 B6 s5 R) R5 P
• Build up a network of contacts in relevant Chinese agencies and institutions.6 L3 l* ]' H( s, G& M: O
• Assist with arranging visit programmes and meetings for New Zealand ministers and officials. O* l" b1 G- y7 E9 \' e# G' m
• Provide accurate interpretation (Chinese/English and English/Chinese) at official meetings.

The Embassy is looking for the following skills and capabilities:1 B" P& D: i+ h% A
• High degree of oral and written proficiency in both Mandarin Chinese and English.

• Relevant tertiary qualification( a/ ?' ~) V, ^8 }1 s- C
• Research and analytical skills.; G) o- _: k+ ^% d2 v
• Well organised, able to manage a large workload. 5 E0 V' `# ~, W* d( O
• Strong initiative, a problem solving mentality, and ability to work independently on tasks.
; v& ~8 C( Z, o. O9 Y6 y • Flexibility and adaptability.& b' M3 l- T' u# J, m- r5 F) L
• Strong interpersonal skills, able to work effectively with other team members. v+ y/ z- e) C/ A+ ?* v
• Familiarity with the working environment in China, including government systems./ b, z8 S, m5 a8 l$ X k2 U; x& D
• Developed computer skills (particularly MS Office, internet research capability).6 p) w; t/ w- x
• Knowledge or experience of New Zealand an advantage.7 ?# P2 ], v0 C8 \* Q5 f" Z
