! p8 [0 R; x" v: x1 ^, x: y/ \The New Zealand Embassy in Beijing is looking for an enthusiastic person to join our team as policy adviser/interpreter in the trade & economic team. The focus of this position is on supporting New Zealand’s trade and economic relationship with China. _0 t, X6 O/ @+ ]

' X( s5 W4 N4 ?4 P • Undertake research and analysis.8 X$ A* F0 W8 i \
• Provide policy advice and reporting on trade/economic developments in China.
( Q* ~1 T, e- j • Build up a network of contacts in relevant Chinese agencies and institutions.
n0 J, A. [6 v* D8 t • Assist with arranging visit programmes and meetings for New Zealand ministers and officials.
: Z& |& s t$ s# S: r2 X) N" U • Provide accurate interpretation (Chinese/English and English/Chinese) at official meetings. p7 f, J8 M1 e( @8 M e; w

The Embassy is looking for the following skills and capabilities:
; K6 [# _; C9 E • High degree of oral and written proficiency in both Mandarin Chinese and English.
- k( d1 D5 g9 L5 J3 C% ?; f • Translation and interpretation skills.% L' l3 Y. F0 B7 s1 J( p
• Relevant tertiary qualification
# a" T% B( s: a% l • Research and analytical skills.
! O" i' A: h I9 n • Well organised, able to manage a large workload.
1 i; G1 @6 F7 J1 D' E" P( p1 W • Strong initiative, a problem solving mentality, and ability to work independently on tasks.
* v0 Y$ T! S6 E7 t% A. H0 _ • Flexibility and adaptability.* b2 K& X/ u6 K, k
• Strong interpersonal skills, able to work effectively with other team members.
' F! M3 w) E+ K8 {0 M& z • Familiarity with the working environment in China, including government systems.
5 X5 `4 H; U6 W • Developed computer skills (particularly MS Office, internet research capability).
" W2 z0 g9 Y1 e+ ]: M$ i" E • Knowledge or experience of New Zealand an advantage.
