: i0 k3 O5 w- H3 ~The New Zealand Embassy in Beijing is looking for an enthusiastic person to join our team as policy adviser/interpreter in the trade & economic team. The focus of this position is on supporting New Zealand’s trade and economic relationship with China.

• Undertake research and analysis.
0 s A1 j4 @8 K; l. T • Provide policy advice and reporting on trade/economic developments in China.1 L- ?1 i; p( E0 t; |
• Build up a network of contacts in relevant Chinese agencies and institutions.
0 L0 r# L; ^+ X& N& z • Assist with arranging visit programmes and meetings for New Zealand ministers and officials.
; G# f3 n+ A- k • Provide accurate interpretation (Chinese/English and English/Chinese) at official meetings.

The Embassy is looking for the following skills and capabilities:
8 M1 B- X' y1 X) r- d6 M1 |7 e8 B • High degree of oral and written proficiency in both Mandarin Chinese and English.

• Research and analytical skills.
( K1 d4 ~+ @( F6 O& T. K W, Q6 x • Well organised, able to manage a large workload.
% H( ^6 ?( K. [( ^3 _ • Strong initiative, a problem solving mentality, and ability to work independently on tasks.
+ \) j0 u4 T! D; J0 K • Flexibility and adaptability.$ X8 R& C7 X% |9 W9 y3 J4 e
• Strong interpersonal skills, able to work effectively with other team members." x9 u5 L* P+ R8 y3 _
• Familiarity with the working environment in China, including government systems.
