The New Zealand Embassy in Beijing is looking for an enthusiastic person to join our team as policy adviser/interpreter in the trade & economic team. The focus of this position is on supporting New Zealand’s trade and economic relationship with China.

• Undertake research and analysis.
6 t( v5 I4 w5 A9 ~1 x • Provide policy advice and reporting on trade/economic developments in China.5 }; X4 Y+ n9 ~/ Q
• Build up a network of contacts in relevant Chinese agencies and institutions.
4 l- A; ~" G6 q6 a. M. }1 F( A • Assist with arranging visit programmes and meetings for New Zealand ministers and officials.* q1 g: }" Q1 Y2 e, v
• Provide accurate interpretation (Chinese/English and English/Chinese) at official meetings.- p: i4 E, s/ E( x: ~$ _
• Translate official correspondence.

• High degree of oral and written proficiency in both Mandarin Chinese and English.

• Well organised, able to manage a large workload. ; z3 b7 m* u" X9 ^+ v
• Strong initiative, a problem solving mentality, and ability to work independently on tasks. # Q' p* B. [ i' p4 T2 ?" L
• Flexibility and adaptability.
" \, W& K* W0 | • Strong interpersonal skills, able to work effectively with other team members.) H# T1 P$ ~( v, T/ s
• Familiarity with the working environment in China, including government systems.6 Y: s1 M y0 v, j* v3 A, A( W
• Developed computer skills (particularly MS Office, internet research capability).
