$ X% q3 q; I9 F$ ~; k1 G* M* rThe New Zealand Embassy in Beijing is looking for an enthusiastic person to join our team as policy adviser/interpreter in the trade & economic team. The focus of this position is on supporting New Zealand’s trade and economic relationship with China. 4 a r2 G* Y* S4 S5 x, O7 Z* ^8 a

• Undertake research and analysis.
' [$ g Q6 Z! [" E" I- V • Provide policy advice and reporting on trade/economic developments in China.
! V5 S- q3 Z" }( R$ m# [7 O • Build up a network of contacts in relevant Chinese agencies and institutions.8 m) l8 Z9 C" w$ R# V7 o- k2 L
• Assist with arranging visit programmes and meetings for New Zealand ministers and officials.5 J" t+ j1 x/ U$ ^
• Provide accurate interpretation (Chinese/English and English/Chinese) at official meetings.

• High degree of oral and written proficiency in both Mandarin Chinese and English.

• Relevant tertiary qualification

0 l1 i- ]; X" D* a! e$ {; T • Strong initiative, a problem solving mentality, and ability to work independently on tasks.

• Strong interpersonal skills, able to work effectively with other team members.
; s7 T u3 o7 [ g • Familiarity with the working environment in China, including government systems.

• Knowledge or experience of New Zealand an advantage.
