# \3 ?# i5 ^! l- z4 o, R2 vThe New Zealand Embassy in Beijing is looking for an enthusiastic person to join our team as policy adviser/interpreter in the trade & economic team. The focus of this position is on supporting New Zealand’s trade and economic relationship with China. 9 k8 T, d# y7 a* r+ F( \

Key tasks:1 p1 }; t- ~* n8 [& e _) r- c
• Undertake research and analysis.
& }) Q2 h% O) P) d9 } ~4 T • Provide policy advice and reporting on trade/economic developments in China.
- W n" ]1 V6 |8 K [( }% ^2 g) L( ^ • Build up a network of contacts in relevant Chinese agencies and institutions.
! h s& y& n4 ^5 O' u • Assist with arranging visit programmes and meetings for New Zealand ministers and officials.
1 A, o, ^' ?( b5 q2 c • Provide accurate interpretation (Chinese/English and English/Chinese) at official meetings.$ v0 i+ O; u2 p
• Translate official correspondence.4 R6 b. J( S/ M) C: P

7 d I; l8 a; _7 ? G+ h# lThe Embassy is looking for the following skills and capabilities:3 M( S5 m4 Q8 P* _. g" a# \+ x/ c
• High degree of oral and written proficiency in both Mandarin Chinese and English.# h% o: X ]4 D3 ~3 u
• Translation and interpretation skills.( Z6 Y8 {! T7 O- H
• Relevant tertiary qualification
7 G9 w" Q8 ~1 M- U: C9 y+ ` • Research and analytical skills.+ f! B/ p3 T& p% k' o6 a) R
• Well organised, able to manage a large workload.
* E1 t x! @5 x1 k( ~ • Strong initiative, a problem solving mentality, and ability to work independently on tasks. & L0 g/ |, I( l% r2 {- X9 a& r
• Flexibility and adaptability.' A3 U/ ~8 r4 H8 L# P4 |. y" B
• Strong interpersonal skills, able to work effectively with other team members.
3 j4 d* c. x& F% v3 g • Familiarity with the working environment in China, including government systems.
