& @7 z# k& Z; }) ]( pThe New Zealand Embassy in Beijing is looking for an enthusiastic person to join our team as policy adviser/interpreter in the trade & economic team. The focus of this position is on supporting New Zealand’s trade and economic relationship with China.

Key tasks:
# k9 I+ y6 `# t+ a • Undertake research and analysis.. N7 z1 i5 @% w! u
• Provide policy advice and reporting on trade/economic developments in China., U! k5 F! k/ M
• Build up a network of contacts in relevant Chinese agencies and institutions.
9 Y6 g+ d i1 E* z) } • Assist with arranging visit programmes and meetings for New Zealand ministers and officials.
) u6 K1 y v1 N3 z) o2 s) d" ^ • Provide accurate interpretation (Chinese/English and English/Chinese) at official meetings.4 ~$ [8 x; B7 S) o6 \
• Translate official correspondence.8 g. Z# ]2 T7 Q7 R

The Embassy is looking for the following skills and capabilities:9 ^) }6 s! m D" V
• High degree of oral and written proficiency in both Mandarin Chinese and English.( C$ @2 E4 ?/ B& @1 Q9 `, D
• Translation and interpretation skills., W% J/ }- H: C0 ]( K
• Relevant tertiary qualification1 E$ A6 n3 U R- v
• Research and analytical skills.2 Y) A' ?1 Z3 n: ^. D
• Well organised, able to manage a large workload. ; i6 i, f4 ?3 X
• Strong initiative, a problem solving mentality, and ability to work independently on tasks. 2 @" p* v5 [. u% p8 }7 F
• Flexibility and adaptability.3 U# J' D, h; A8 [
• Strong interpersonal skills, able to work effectively with other team members.
, X) a; i J0 L* c! z: M • Familiarity with the working environment in China, including government systems.

• Knowledge or experience of New Zealand an advantage.
