. y) X" X& V; Y3 Q& v P% _The New Zealand Embassy in Beijing is looking for an enthusiastic person to join our team as policy adviser/interpreter in the trade & economic team. The focus of this position is on supporting New Zealand’s trade and economic relationship with China.

Key tasks:% f9 _& F$ p9 D+ N; d/ N% _
• Undertake research and analysis.5 I% S# R* H+ w/ U
• Provide policy advice and reporting on trade/economic developments in China.
9 s X; h( M: c6 H2 e • Build up a network of contacts in relevant Chinese agencies and institutions.
) O- v8 Y! k5 U$ h; w • Assist with arranging visit programmes and meetings for New Zealand ministers and officials.4 z4 [4 b% A: t. H; ~9 A* w; |; t
• Provide accurate interpretation (Chinese/English and English/Chinese) at official meetings.

The Embassy is looking for the following skills and capabilities:
& k. t; {2 O) H" x7 ^0 T • High degree of oral and written proficiency in both Mandarin Chinese and English.

• Research and analytical skills.. g, o% L) G& X/ {) V# ]. F) _
• Well organised, able to manage a large workload.
$ {& \9 W/ C( d: @6 c5 | • Strong initiative, a problem solving mentality, and ability to work independently on tasks.
: A/ Q3 a; Z6 W/ J3 m+ R • Flexibility and adaptability.* K7 p* O* g+ ~) g1 M
• Strong interpersonal skills, able to work effectively with other team members.9 }3 x0 W0 Z& Y7 `
• Familiarity with the working environment in China, including government systems.

• Knowledge or experience of New Zealand an advantage./ A; J7 c: z, T, x. f. }1 B2 f
