Every loving connection we make with our child helps build their brain and shapes the way they think, feel, act and learn throughout life. Their happiness, ability to believe in themselves to be resilient and learn, are all tightly bound to these connections.
As parents, our own mental health is so important for building these connections. It’s never been an easy job, and COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in parents and caregivers carrying an even heavier mental load, as they battle to keep children learning and their families functioning.
Self-care is important, but it’s not enough. Parents need support and we need to care for each other. That’s why, with UNICEF, I want to thank and support parents and caregivers in doing the most important and hardest job in the world.
