; l6 }) P3 q. z) M' s8 UThe New Zealand Embassy in Beijing is looking for an enthusiastic person to join our team as policy adviser/interpreter in the trade & economic team. The focus of this position is on supporting New Zealand’s trade and economic relationship with China. ( |4 J! G8 b4 r6 X( D8 ]9 Y
8 U+ Y( a) ]% ?Key tasks:6 w0 b$ l, X+ D8 L R t* Y
• Undertake research and analysis.
, t- c! E! U8 ~0 z • Provide policy advice and reporting on trade/economic developments in China.! _! K3 s8 U; {7 p; l. W% K
• Build up a network of contacts in relevant Chinese agencies and institutions.
; |0 b+ A- G( \+ ]( F# H; E ?( ~; p • Assist with arranging visit programmes and meetings for New Zealand ministers and officials./ P) @3 o3 f! a+ d! i" h J
• Provide accurate interpretation (Chinese/English and English/Chinese) at official meetings.& }3 c/ ~* u5 S& H6 M
• Translate official correspondence.

+ c0 z; j r; X" Z6 ? • High degree of oral and written proficiency in both Mandarin Chinese and English.
3 R5 k) E8 y+ s7 Y5 w" \# s2 J • Translation and interpretation skills.
) m q P# ]% J# i • Relevant tertiary qualification% Q4 q+ L" ?: o, N, p. J
• Research and analytical skills.( ] ]* b& t/ B5 n# G6 O
• Well organised, able to manage a large workload. ( H( c9 a- C @7 N% m" b" T
• Strong initiative, a problem solving mentality, and ability to work independently on tasks. * r6 F! D- k2 Z. k f6 A6 s/ j9 j
• Flexibility and adaptability.
3 Z6 W, w. X4 A- x# s# o • Strong interpersonal skills, able to work effectively with other team members.
6 ^* @7 j4 H: s3 x# h2 A • Familiarity with the working environment in China, including government systems.
: V/ p5 j! g5 t$ { • Developed computer skills (particularly MS Office, internet research capability).) n3 z/ d7 l/ l( O/ O+ m# W# R3 m
