9 @+ P$ U1 q0 H2 nThe New Zealand Embassy in Beijing is looking for an enthusiastic person to join our team as policy adviser/interpreter in the trade & economic team. The focus of this position is on supporting New Zealand’s trade and economic relationship with China.

Key tasks:/ ? g! o4 Y! C, E* N$ M; u
• Undertake research and analysis.+ @6 Z' h) {3 C" N$ E
• Provide policy advice and reporting on trade/economic developments in China. s b9 n/ R8 N8 H
• Build up a network of contacts in relevant Chinese agencies and institutions.
0 ^; q$ ~) d: e9 k • Assist with arranging visit programmes and meetings for New Zealand ministers and officials.
C4 E. a* U$ V4 f/ w4 b" `; N; P • Provide accurate interpretation (Chinese/English and English/Chinese) at official meetings.

The Embassy is looking for the following skills and capabilities:
: t5 e. d) ]- K7 t/ u • High degree of oral and written proficiency in both Mandarin Chinese and English.

• Relevant tertiary qualification& p% d2 P% V9 Q2 r
• Research and analytical skills. _, n0 d; v7 W# T S
• Well organised, able to manage a large workload. 1 W& |. I: a* f! H6 W
• Strong initiative, a problem solving mentality, and ability to work independently on tasks. * `/ A8 i7 ?, D% ]7 U
• Flexibility and adaptability.
) h3 I$ g4 f) j) \ • Strong interpersonal skills, able to work effectively with other team members.6 T" W. h2 F( I8 K8 r c" x: y9 n0 j
• Familiarity with the working environment in China, including government systems.
