3 H3 C- u% V' J/ B! a' q+ vThe New Zealand Embassy in Beijing is looking for an enthusiastic person to join our team as policy adviser/interpreter in the trade & economic team. The focus of this position is on supporting New Zealand’s trade and economic relationship with China. * p. i5 @" s2 ?6 F* f

• Undertake research and analysis.
( K' i$ t% e6 z' R • Provide policy advice and reporting on trade/economic developments in China.2 r$ ~6 s* i0 j
• Build up a network of contacts in relevant Chinese agencies and institutions.
7 ]1 D1 O1 Y+ D9 `1 E { • Assist with arranging visit programmes and meetings for New Zealand ministers and officials.
8 ]0 D8 `$ [5 |$ g' G H! Q" M; T: [ • Provide accurate interpretation (Chinese/English and English/Chinese) at official meetings.: E& ^ u* U n7 [

The Embassy is looking for the following skills and capabilities:& P9 S% w. Q$ O, B: x6 q0 F
• High degree of oral and written proficiency in both Mandarin Chinese and English.
0 _1 J5 ]: F. B0 ?2 D • Translation and interpretation skills.& H! G* i" f% X7 h
• Relevant tertiary qualification
, h' H, S, A" h1 U$ x6 G; u • Research and analytical skills.
: B$ J+ ^2 x( Y2 _( W • Well organised, able to manage a large workload. 8 R& ~( O3 X3 @+ o& U$ n
• Strong initiative, a problem solving mentality, and ability to work independently on tasks. , J5 D2 h. b0 X5 m4 h D: `
• Flexibility and adaptability.
8 a& V& W3 m2 B" e$ d9 L • Strong interpersonal skills, able to work effectively with other team members.
" a# z1 x- G% w" _: \& q • Familiarity with the working environment in China, including government systems.
% h6 a! g* S3 Q6 u • Developed computer skills (particularly MS Office, internet research capability).
