" e2 }; Z4 i( y: X- kThe New Zealand Embassy in Beijing is looking for an enthusiastic person to join our team as policy adviser/interpreter in the trade & economic team.  The focus of this position is on supporting New Zealand’s trade and economic relationship with China.  

* @- O, e% A+ H* n3 qKey tasks:
        •        Undertake research and analysis.
) Y, v+ u7 M, Y$ H        •        Provide policy advice and reporting on trade/economic developments in China.
7 |, k# |( W1 `! T9 S        •        Build up a network of contacts in relevant Chinese agencies and institutions.
        •        Assist with arranging visit programmes and meetings for New Zealand ministers and officials.
        •        Provide accurate interpretation (Chinese/English and English/Chinese) at official meetings.
) J. O4 t0 L& d7 X9 _6 O+ U        •        Translate official correspondence.

* |& ~2 Y1 o- ], K' X$ X; }The Embassy is looking for the following skills and capabilities:
        •        High degree of oral and written proficiency in both Mandarin Chinese and English.
        •        Translation and interpretation skills.
        •        Relevant tertiary qualification
* _* b1 w0 _+ P! |, l        •        Research and analytical skills.
, L0 E, Q1 r) V  S        •        Well organised, able to manage a large workload.
4 w7 W2 j$ ?3 {4 }        •        Strong initiative, a problem solving mentality, and ability to work independently on tasks.
        •        Flexibility and adaptability.
& M) v- z5 Q! v0 G        •        Strong interpersonal skills, able to work effectively with other team members.
        •        Familiarity with the working environment in China, including government systems.
& p9 a' C, [7 D  g! M: A        •        Developed computer skills (particularly MS Office, internet research capability).
