FIT wishes you a very, very happy International Translation Day this 30th of September.

I can't think of a more fitting time for our theme to be “A World Without Barriers: the Role of Language Professionals in Building Understanding, Culture and Lasting Peace”, because it feels like this is something we could all use just a little bit more of at the moment.
今年国际翻译日的主题是“无障碍世界：语言工作者在促进文化交流，相互理解和持久和平中的作用”。以此为主题极为贴切，对我们所有人都有所启发。
Recently FIT held its executive meeting and celebrated ITD in advance of the day, with our colleagues from the Irish Translators and Interpreters Association.
近日，国际译联召开了执委会，与爱尔兰翻译协会的同事们共同庆祝了国际翻译日。
It was fitting to meet and celebrate in a country, not only with a rich literary and cultural heritage, but also one that is home to a 1200-year old manuscript based on the gospels translated into Latin by St Jerome, patron saint of translators.
在爱尔兰庆祝这一节日再合适不过。爱尔兰不仅拥有丰富的文学文化遗产，而且拥有一份有着1200年历史以圣杰罗姆翻译的拉丁文版圣经为蓝本的文稿。
Now I know that some of you think having a patron saint is quaint and outdated, but it's really a symbolic representation of our rich cultural history, reminding us all, by celebrating one of the most historic translators, that translators and interpreters have been around for centuries, for millennia.
有人认为现在提及圣杰罗姆有些过时，但这象征着悠久的文化和历史。通过纪念这位最负盛名的译者之一，我们要铭记翻译已经存在了数百年乃至数千年之久。
No doubt as long as there has been more than one language, there has been translators, interpreters, and terminologists.

The Day of St Jerome, ITD, is an important day for us, because in addition to celebrating amongst our associations, it's about the broader recognition of the profession and asking the rest of the world to celebrate with us and for us.
圣杰罗姆节，即国际翻译日，对我们来说是一个重要的节日。除了各个翻译协会举办庆祝活动以外，我们还应重视对翻译职业的广泛认可，并邀请全世界与我们共庆这一盛事。
Just as we use our skills to serve our clients, we must also advocate for ourselves, highlighting the important work that translators and interpreters and terminologists do. We share our professional skills and experience to the benefit of our clients, and also for the world of profession. And that is something to celebrate.
译者用技能为客户服务，也要为自己发声，强调笔译员、口译员和术语工作者所做的重要工作。我们提供专业技能和经验，服务客户，也造福整个翻译行业，这正是我们庆祝国际翻译日的真谛。
So, to all translators, interpreters and terminologists across the world, happy International Translation Day!
