E7 V- N, w2 z% wThe New Zealand Embassy in Beijing is looking for an enthusiastic person to join our team as policy adviser/interpreter in the trade & economic team. The focus of this position is on supporting New Zealand’s trade and economic relationship with China. " u+ p5 g, }/ G
* b- C. J' B9 N/ p4 G" LKey tasks:
- h3 a% B7 W! d5 X/ B • Undertake research and analysis.9 c5 Y7 ], D# U2 m* s- \! k8 l0 F* g! o
• Provide policy advice and reporting on trade/economic developments in China.
; T( N9 g! e- ]6 I, j+ ? • Build up a network of contacts in relevant Chinese agencies and institutions.
4 o1 M! v4 ?) S% A' t% n; @ • Assist with arranging visit programmes and meetings for New Zealand ministers and officials.
% Z& L" t+ R1 N9 I • Provide accurate interpretation (Chinese/English and English/Chinese) at official meetings.2 }0 G' e) v' R
• Translate official correspondence.

The Embassy is looking for the following skills and capabilities:: P' }+ _2 S- ^3 p4 ~
• High degree of oral and written proficiency in both Mandarin Chinese and English.
! {" V% b# I: {0 @) I) V0 H5 | • Translation and interpretation skills.6 n5 ~; R6 a+ F D
• Relevant tertiary qualification/ }3 m0 h, t$ R/ s' i$ c
• Research and analytical skills.
% u w$ ~ E- B; H: V9 w: k+ | • Well organised, able to manage a large workload.
) X' l- `, h' L! t8 ]& S8 l F • Strong initiative, a problem solving mentality, and ability to work independently on tasks. ! x$ \3 d4 r" J7 ?6 ]7 ^
• Flexibility and adaptability.
8 R" s+ [* J% s5 u/ J+ E+ t • Strong interpersonal skills, able to work effectively with other team members.

• Developed computer skills (particularly MS Office, internet research capability)." K6 P3 u7 Q# C) P' T8 `* t* B
