The New Zealand Embassy in Beijing is looking for an enthusiastic person to join our team as policy adviser/interpreter in the trade & economic team. The focus of this position is on supporting New Zealand’s trade and economic relationship with China.

) B! H" Y# o6 i1 A; M& b3 s$ F& T4 x • Undertake research and analysis.; b i2 E4 @0 m5 w% o
• Provide policy advice and reporting on trade/economic developments in China./ Y# P e$ b3 s e+ O
• Build up a network of contacts in relevant Chinese agencies and institutions." p7 K# ^1 L( {) o8 j' H
• Assist with arranging visit programmes and meetings for New Zealand ministers and officials.
2 a" U& _) U: d; u/ q • Provide accurate interpretation (Chinese/English and English/Chinese) at official meetings.2 E' [5 x3 ]% M; i- d
• Translate official correspondence.

1 M6 N) m1 z$ d: A • High degree of oral and written proficiency in both Mandarin Chinese and English.
1 f* A1 ]: j& R# Y' g • Translation and interpretation skills. u) a* V1 `3 ^
• Relevant tertiary qualification
% r- i1 P: |' u# c5 V5 c • Research and analytical skills.

• Strong initiative, a problem solving mentality, and ability to work independently on tasks.

• Strong interpersonal skills, able to work effectively with other team members./ ^' H6 x& i- ?7 k3 v; K
• Familiarity with the working environment in China, including government systems." E1 V. w* s, a1 K6 E3 B' `, X+ l
• Developed computer skills (particularly MS Office, internet research capability).) F2 U3 o$ q! l8 j6 l# K
• Knowledge or experience of New Zealand an advantage.$ P) Z3 S' f5 ~+ [9 u: H
