Sitting near the beautiful West Lake, Hangzhou is one of China’s leading e-commerce centers – one that has played a seminal role in digital development.
杭州坐落在美丽的西湖附近,是中国领先的电子商务中心之一,在数字化发展中发挥了重要而深远的作用。
No cash, no cards, no wallet. That’s OK. In Hangzhou, wherever you go and whatever you do, you only need your mobile phone and your "face".
In some places like this hotel, all you need is your face. A quick scan of your face is all it takes for the machine to confirm your ID. So you can easily check in, even if you don’t have your ID card on hand.
Here in this fast food restaurant, your face will be the one paying for your meal. Once you chose your meal on the big touch screen, all you need to do is type in your phone number, and confirm payment by scanning your face. Now that’s done. I can get my meal.
Long lines, stressful waits, huge crowds in the hospital– these are some of the worst things about seeing a doctor – but that’s the thing of the past here. Registration and payment can all be done through mobile apps, even before you arrive. The use of mobile APP not only saves time, but also makes the hospital less crowded.
And here in Hangzhou, you don’t even need to show up at court if you ever need to face the music in a lawsuit. The city set up the country’s first Internet court in May. So you can just log on and fight it out online. Over 4,000 cases have been handled so far.
Such advancement in digital technology also eases traffic congestion in Hangzhou, and that is all thanks to a "big brain of big data" here. In the future this "big brain" will increasingly help to manage more aspects of the city, making life here more convenient, efficient, and enjoyable.
