( A& b2 l  v% r" S4 ]$ yThe New Zealand Embassy in Beijing is looking for an enthusiastic person to join our team as policy adviser/interpreter in the trade & economic team.  The focus of this position is on supporting New Zealand’s trade and economic relationship with China.  2 c* P5 S0 X2 E( i# z- Y6 ]2 o
& s2 S4 U, z" g9 T0 R" ?) e
Key tasks:
, K0 @4 w5 P' P7 t! t2 I: A, `4 \5 A: E        •        Undertake research and analysis.
* f: b# S' [% Y( y7 F        •        Provide policy advice and reporting on trade/economic developments in China.
3 F& q# s9 e, F7 C& z- d        •        Build up a network of contacts in relevant Chinese agencies and institutions.
& I1 Y- Q$ ~# R6 `6 W% {        •        Assist with arranging visit programmes and meetings for New Zealand ministers and officials.. ~2 s, T/ h9 y3 |' F" N
        •        Provide accurate interpretation (Chinese/English and English/Chinese) at official meetings.
' N- w; |' }: `( ^: j" e% _        •        Translate official correspondence.3 O( n  M8 O$ r7 i2 D1 ]9 Q

The Embassy is looking for the following skills and capabilities:
5 ^) Q; S4 M+ G1 Y4 S9 ~* T# F        •        High degree of oral and written proficiency in both Mandarin Chinese and English.9 n" f, t  a* s! W5 A" t8 B
        •        Translation and interpretation skills.
1 \: s- n$ p- I        •        Relevant tertiary qualification
7 W$ `5 Y8 C( E. U# z; b        •        Research and analytical skills." X, D" Q4 D2 \" I5 R. T& l
        •        Well organised, able to manage a large workload.
& Y& ~* U  \: X8 p        •        Strong initiative, a problem solving mentality, and ability to work independently on tasks.   X1 q" Y9 o! @; t, w
        •        Flexibility and adaptability.4 _& Y7 T/ ~  ?# `
        •        Strong interpersonal skills, able to work effectively with other team members.
/ c, d( d3 d- j9 v6 V3 G        •        Familiarity with the working environment in China, including government systems.( F! D( c4 S3 P9 {$ X4 o
        •        Developed computer skills (particularly MS Office, internet research capability).  i$ c; R, B( K$ K
        •        Knowledge or experience of New Zealand an advantage./ J) Q! T5 D- `; F8 f
