J, v: B5 @ + R1 a# n! d8 p( L5 @1 ?* IThe New Zealand Embassy in Beijing is looking for an enthusiastic person to join our team as policy adviser/interpreter in the trade & economic team. The focus of this position is on supporting New Zealand’s trade and economic relationship with China. . a4 K+ O- v- N. _# ~* U

Key tasks:' p/ j/ n ]) W9 |* c5 i7 p- K
• Undertake research and analysis.+ R& }) G2 w: |- p) m- x# Y
• Provide policy advice and reporting on trade/economic developments in China.9 H4 L/ F$ f& a' S2 T
• Build up a network of contacts in relevant Chinese agencies and institutions. t6 B- S7 g: j# x; x7 Q
• Assist with arranging visit programmes and meetings for New Zealand ministers and officials.0 D u/ R" Z3 `4 U( `$ Q
• Provide accurate interpretation (Chinese/English and English/Chinese) at official meetings. 7 Q# `6 S- m/ X9 r, w( Z& T0 ]7 | • Translate official correspondence.* Q# c3 }0 s, z5 k$ `7 J( ~' @

' o3 N5 x1 S+ X' WThe Embassy is looking for the following skills and capabilities: : c0 q- _; u& t! C @8 M • High degree of oral and written proficiency in both Mandarin Chinese and English.- B8 W- F* f5 g, v
• Translation and interpretation skills.: c8 j. A$ S( b) {5 A, x
• Relevant tertiary qualification$ Y C L2 i3 o; g- Z9 s& o$ Q8 W
• Research and analytical skills.7 l* P n( h8 r Z: k* N" E
• Well organised, able to manage a large workload. 5 v5 m- { m4 R* S5 `. f( k
• Strong initiative, a problem solving mentality, and ability to work independently on tasks. # |$ i' O, C, l3 V8 B1 w9 t
• Flexibility and adaptability. $ Z8 L/ x1 a) z • Strong interpersonal skills, able to work effectively with other team members.6 s4 i2 ^" y1 n2 a' }
• Familiarity with the working environment in China, including government systems.7 [ m) } D% D: n$ g/ {( ]8 _
• Developed computer skills (particularly MS Office, internet research capability). 6 Z+ u2 u4 _+ m- t* F • Knowledge or experience of New Zealand an advantage.9 n3 a( e' p" M3 v
